It was a weekend of extreme highs and lows in Tri-Cities, WA for the Miss Madison Racing Team and the U-1 Miss HomeStreet. Jimmy Shane drove Miss HomeStreet to the top qualifying spot with a 163.431 m.p.h. lap and won the Dash for Cash in the late afternoon. The highly anticipated new Miss HomeStreet arrived in the Lampson Pit Area Friday morning. HomeStreet Bank President & CEO Mark Mason and wife, Courtney, christened the new boat in the afternoon.
Fans have dubbed the boats #misshomestreetblue (2007 hull) and #misshomestreetwhite (2018 hull) based on their respective prominent color. Jimmy Shane took Miss HomeStreet white out for the first laps in testing on Saturday morning turned a fast lap of 142 m.p.h in the shakedown run. In a second test run on Sunday, the boat ran laps around 160 m.p.h.
Sunday brought a series of misfortunes for the team that culminated in a DSQ in the final for a lane violation. While the Miss Madison team did not have the weekend they planned for in Tri-Cities, they will take the positive of the performance of the new boat into this week’s Albert Lee Cup at Seattle Seafair.
